WCLX 13 Design

This year's theme "Meet me in Chicago" came from the core of what exchanges are: A gathering of dancers in one city for several days to experience the dance venues and styles of that local community and to dance with visitors and locals alike. Chicago's train system, is much like that of an exchange. Everyday commuters take the train into what's known as "the Loop", the hub of Chicago transit system "the L", consisting of 5 of Chicago's 9 train lines. Commuters and travelers alike take trains in and out of The Loop where trains exchange passengers who switch from train line to train line to get to their destinations.

The L train map is the direct inspiration for this year's artwork. As locals and visitors to WCLX 13 will notice during their travels to and from exchange venues, each train line has a color, a map for that line, and the Loop map which shows where all the lines meet. Much like local's might say "meet me at Chicago Blue Line stop", the theme "Meet me at Chicago" was born.

This year's artwork is an adaptation of the Loop train map and Chicago's own transit signage. The WCLX tshirt is an adaptation of the train line stop sigange, with 3 different options to chose from, the blue line, red line and pink line.
